For Martin

Aug 12, 7:45am: As the season begins to change again, I can't help but feel this overwhelming feeling of emptiness. It's strange how it comes, at such a busy and full time in my life. School is beginning again, work as well. The kids are getting back to their activities, and the calendar has events marked on nearly everyday. I guess the feeling comes from the fact that I am back to my optimal level of consumption by my family. "I" is not top on the priority list. It's always this time of year that I start to miss myself. I love the fall, I always have...but now that I am a mother, partner, and future social worker the fall means so many DIFFERENT things. It's just a reminder of the fact that I want more in my life...for MY LIFE, and I still put these things on the back burner. And when I finally have the time to focus more on myself and my true passions (not that my children are not one of my passions) will I be to old to fully enjoy it?

Oh, and then there's that whole reminder of love lost. Love that was found in the fall, revisited in the fall, and for some reason love that lingers here as well. The worst part is when the first snow hits, that's a sure sign of the end of it all.
